Merry Christmas from Mingle!
What better way to spend a chilly November evening than to cosy up with friends and colleagues over mulled wine and mince pies.
We’ve been looking forward to 30 November for quite a while now, and it’s come round very quickly.
We met in the Station Pub, at the top of Station Road in Colwyn Bay which is very nice since a big refurbishment about a year ago. The private room at the top of the stairs was ours all set out with circular tables, a buffet table, bar and mulled wine station. Perfect.
There’s nothing better that coming in from the cold and being greeting by a steaming hot mug of spiced mulled wine.
Sandra Donoghue, founder of Mingle, and Helen Thomas, of Perfectly Planned by Helen were there to greet us and ensure the evening ran smoothly.
The canapés were very tasty and just right, as most of us had come straight from work and needed a little something to keep us going until our meal later on.
It was nice to see familiar faces and some new folk too. Everyone seems to be busy getting through the festive selling season but really looking forward to a good break and some time with their feet up with family and friends.
Mingle for Business is all about networking and those of us who’ve been around for a while don’t need any encouragement to get chatting – catching up with our friends and colleagues and finding out about new folk and their story.
Lisa Fotios of Indever and Lisa Fotios Photography arrived with her camera and a bag of really fun props and set about taking funny photos of anyone who was game. Rob Andrews-Wood of Cardrews Media brought his video equipment to capture some testimonials for use on the website.
We brought cupcakes of course. Tonight’s flavour was spiced Baileys decorated with handmade festive toppers which seemed to be well received.
Once everyone had arrived we did some quick introductions with the help of Anthony Woodhouse and his very clever 360 camera. We stood in a big circle and everyone briefly introduced themselves and their business. It was a really fun way of making sure everyone knew each other and we look forward to seeing it up on the website very soon.
Next was the Mannequin Challenge which has been doing the rounds on social media for quite a few weeks. If Hillary Clinton can do it on her election campaign, then surely we can do it too! We took our direction from the inimitable Melanie Lawton and after a practice run with a few too many giggles, we filmed it live on Facebook. What a hoot! If you’ve not seen it yet, head over to Mingle’s Facebook pages https://www.facebook.com/MingleForBusiness/?fref=ts
Stacey Foster of RBS Bank fame was our Quizmaster Extraordinaire as we scratched our heads over Christmas movies, traditions, food and drinks, music and song lyrics. The musical interlude was provide by Serge of Serge Music – it was Guess the Tune – movies and festive songs.
Winners and overall champions were the Sage & Onion team who couldn’t wait to parade their winners certificates around the room.
A fun evening was had by all, a little bit of networking was done, plenty of mulled wine was consumed, and everyone was cupcaked out. Time for home.
Thank you to Sandra and Helen for organising a great evening, and thank you everyone for making the effort to come along and make it such a fun occasion.
That’s all for now
